Gynaecology Health Matters Programme – Bangladesh
Overall goals
The GHM programme is improving women’s health by increasing access to high quality gynaecological services, through advocacy and training
•A two-year partnership programme, overseen by Government of Bangladesh
•Delivering Essential Gynaecological Skills training to multi-disciplinary healthcare providers, including frontline staff
•Developing a team of local Expert Trainers
•Increasing gynaecological health data collection
•Establishing champions in hospitals to advocate for prioritisation of gynaecological care

Changes
Programme achievements:
•Support secured from Government of Bangladesh under its Maternal Health Programme to scale-up across 20 districts in 2025.
•Endorsement of training package by IPAS, Save the Children, UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO
•Established 30 Expert Trainers from Kushtia, Dinajpur and Dhaka
•76 health providers trained in Essential Gynaecological Skills in Dinajpur and Kushtia
•Gynaecological champion teams set up at every health facility, meeting bi-weekly to review gynaecological patient data and make improvements to services
•Large increase in gynaecological health data collected by staff across all facilities, ensuring the true burden of disease is better understood and managed.
